Calvary Chapel of Oklahoma City

Calvary Chapel of Oklahoma City

Calvary Chapel of Oklahoma City needed a serious upgrade of their website. It was very "90's", and used all of the old design elements that were popular in the 90's such as animated gifs and scrolling text. They had neither a custom logo or any real ideas in terms of a direction they wanted the site to go - just improvement.

Our solution was to create a custom logo that gives them a "brand", then integrate the logo throughout the site as well as their printed materials. The design uses a triad complementary-color scheme based off the color "crimson".

Functional elements include an comprehensive book-by-book Bible teaching library in which each person can download any one of their teachings for free. The list can be filtered by book or date. The site also auto-generates an RSS feed / iTunes Podcast feed that each user can subscribe to.

Web Fact No. 4

Web fact no. 4:

Mystery Meat Navigation is a Ghastly Means of Navigation

While there are 10 million ways to screw up your navigation, the best way to screw it up is to use Mystery Meat Navigation (MMN).

What is Mystery Meat Navigation you ask? Web Pages That Suck defines it as:

"Mystery Meat Navigation occurs when, in order to find specific pages in a site, the user must mouse over unmarked navigational "buttons" - graphics that are usually blank or don't describe their function. JavaScript code then reveals what the real purpose of the button is and where it leads."
